Rank and Coffee
Apparently us men are all competing in dominance hierarchies. There are many hierarchies, wealth, physical fitness, iq, social, art. Heck we even make new ones up all the time - look at the bs the olympics has turned into what with all the quasi sports that have been added.
Women outsource determining sexual selection to the dominance hierarchy (according to Jordan Peterson, who probably took the idea from someone else). Us males, through competing with each other, often pointlessly, and destructively, do the work for them (those who read stoicism and become aware can for the most part escape).
Lebron James can put a ball into a hoop quite efficiently, so he gets paid lots of money by people, therefore he must be evolutionarily fit (ignore the narcissism and other off the spectrum mental issues).
Urghh, its all a bit pointless. Naval talks about rank battles as a necessary evil, best to be avoided if possible. Go for the win-win scenarios. Work with people. Develop value and wealth. There is an infinite amount of wealth the can be created, whereas rank is a zero sum game. So best to avoid rank battles where possible - I don't think you'll miss out long term anyway.
The key point is coffee.
Fu%k coffee.
I attempted to become a coffee drinker for a short while, but it didn't stick. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and at the time I felt as though being a coffee drinker would help in 'at work cafe meetings'. Fortunately for me I don't handle caffeine very well - it just bugs me out. I also don't have an addictive personality, and don't care for the taste. This is one vice that I can keep my willpower gun powder dry.
But sh!t - everyone else is deep deep deep into it. It is almost like a religion. And then there is the "oh coffee is healthy for you bollocks", the pro coffee articles that appear in the sh1t rag known as the local newspaper every now and then.
Well guess what, like all the other addictive bullsh1t eg alcohol, gambling, drugs, p0rn, sugar, smoking etc, I'm pretty sure coffee is bad for you. Sorry to burst the bubble on that one. I'm 95% certain on this one. Sleep is important, f-ing with that mechanism is not wise, so try not do that. What about the anti anxiety medication everyone is on. Any link there?
Also how much money are you people wasting on coffee a year? I'm guessing thousands of dollars.
But actually - you all need to keep drinking coffee. Much like you need to give your money to Tom Waterhouse, Packer, Dan Murphy, you know, those people who really care for you and want to make the world a better place.
But seriously, if you stop, the economy might crash. I can of course continue to not contribute because that has already been factored in.
I visited a cafe today which is owned by a guy I went to high school with. Its in a scenic location, and seems like a quaint premise. My mate and I got chatting to the owner for a while. It ended up descending into who has a bigger pen1s discussion (ie what have you done since hs, I have this this and this, and done this this and this. Well I have this this and this and done this this and this. I just stood there smiling - don't want to be sucked into these things anymore). I think the guy has a bit of business happening though - so good luck to him.
Then the conversation went to the art of roasting coffee beans. The taste and quality of well brewed cup of coffee. Again I had very little to say, didn't have a horse in this race. I looked around the place though. Like most cafes it has the clear cabinet filled with cakes and muffins and other sugar bombs. A chocolate shop has recently been added to the site.
This guy lives on the premises with his wife and young son.
Again - good luck.
I just hope he has the willpower to not eat into his profits. Sugar and caffeine in plentiful supply right at his doorstep, under his nose 24/7. The weapons of mass destruction in the 21st century. Kaboom!
