Responsibility

Warning - I am not polarised to an extreme on the political scale. This post is about some of my conservative leanings.

Parrrrticularly around 'Rights' and 'Responsibilities'.

What Jordan Peterson has to say on the matter resonates with me. You can't really have a conversation about one, without a conversation about the other. It is hard to even discuss the 'Responsibilities' word because it brings philosophy, theology, morals and biological evolution into the fray. Not topics to be treated lightly in this complain about everything on social media, I'm a victim, wah wah wah age.

Yes responsibility is important. It is incredibly important to young men, in the context of going out into the world and making a difference. Women also, but I'd say to a different extent due to the whole 'she is the one who carries the child and cares for biological needs in infancy' aspect.

Responsibility is very important to young men. They want to know, to experience, how they can add value and fit in this world. This world which is now incredibly connected and therefore a lot more complicated than the proceeding 99.9% of time in which humanity has existed and evolved. Marketing is a weapon of mass destruction. It has been experimented and optimised on this latest generation. Culture isn't gearing young people up to succeed as much as it is gearing them up to become customers through psychological and fear tactics.

So we'll lose people. Young men will check out, they'll disappear into video games and internet p0rn and virtual reality. All the cultural and societal issues will fall out of that, but Fbook and g0gle and the like won't care. Politics certainly won't care. Only in the family unit will it bleed through.

My ponderings tonight aren't about them though. My thoughts are with the young people who are actually able to grasp some responsibility, and give a light of meaning to their life. Then how that is weaponised against them.

Large corporations exploit these people. I've worked at a global consultancy whose model was based on a) have a few apex old predators who catch the work and b) have endless amount of graduates who are grasping for responsibility to come through as cheap labour, at detrimental cost to their mental and physical wellbeing, to pull it off. It's a shit model, but it's a shit model that works.

Where were the 30-50 year olds? They didn't exist. That was a bit odd right? I was fed bs reasons for their absence such as: they cost too much, the market was hot, some leave for children ,bla bla bla. I imagine it was closer to the truth that the grad engineers got through 3-4 years and then burnt the f out and disappeared. Or they fell into a hole. Or they climbed out to something better.

That is why I am here. To spread the word about climbing out to something better. Hold onto that responsibility of yours. You want to make a difference. The system has just been designed against you. But the miracle of capitalism is you can create another system. Move from something shit and exploitative to something better.

You need creativity  for this to work.

Creative assignment 1 - pickup an object on your table right now and write down ten different uses for it. This is a game to develop divergent thinking. Divergent thinking is a key skill required to boost creativity. It'll help everything in life.

Numero siete: Hold onto the responsibility you know you can fulfil in this world to make it a better place.
